Hi, I'm Dan

Let me tell you a little bit more about myself...

I have always loved sports and physical activity. When I finished school I completed a Bachelor of Applied Science (Exercise and Sports Science), where I fell in love with exercise physiology and training.

I then worked for a while in rehabilitation before returning to uni to complete my Graduate Diploma in Education.

While I completed my Dip Ed I taught at a secondary school in South West Sydney. It was there that my passion for education began to grow.

I have since worked at various schools across Sydney and including as Deputy Principal at SEDA College NSW (now GOAL College) where I oversaw curriculum and quality teaching.

My passion for my students and quality teaching in PDHPE led me to create pdhpe.net in 2015. Since then I have had the opportunity to serve as a regional representative for the PDHPE Teachers Association, as a member of the ACHPER NSW Board, and have worked for NESA in both marking and syllabus development.

As my skills and expertise have grew I began to present at various conferences including:

  • ACHPER NSW Stage 6 Conference
  • PDHPE TA Conference
  • EdTechTeam Google Summits
  • ACHPER International Conference
  • EduTech
  • PBIS Con
  • The Effective Teaching Conference, and more.

I have also run various whole-day workshops, including:

  • Literacy in PDHPE
  • Google Apps in PDHPE
  • Preliminary PDHPE
  • HSC PDHPE
  • Flipped Learning
  • Inquiry-Based Learning, and more.

Within pdhpe.net I have also run HSC Study days and created online courses relating to unit creation and assessment.

I also had the benefit of hosting the Effective Teaching podcast, where I was privileged enough to interview people such as:

  • Ron Ritchhart
  • John Hattie
  • Jay McTighe
  • Michael Anderson
  • Dylan Wiliam
  • Janice Atkin
  • Trevor MacKenzie
  • Kasey Bell
  • Holly Clarke
  • John Bergmann
  • Monica Burns
  • Dr Judy Willis
  • Lisa Highfill, and many more.
